Join us for an inspiring Chamber Music Journey celebrating the richness and depth of the German classical tradition, with masterpieces by Ludwig van Beethoven and Robert Schumann.

This programme highlights the expressive dialogue between flute and piano, where lyricism, drama, and intimacy intertwine. From Beethoven’s clarity and formal elegance to Schumann’s poetic and introspective world, the concert offers a journey through two essential voices of German Romanticism.

Performed by flutist Nozomi Kanda and pianist Maiko Inoue, this recital invites the audience to experience chamber music as a space of shared emotion and refined musical conversation.

Set in the unique atmosphere of the Musical Instruments Museum in Brussels, this afternoon concert promises a moment of musical depth, elegance, and discovery — an invitation to travel through the timeless beauty of German classics

ARTISTS

Nozomi Kanda (flute)

Nozomi Kanda is a classical flutist and performer of traditional Japanese music, known for her versatile artistry in chamber music and recitals, with a strong focus on contemporary repertoire. A graduate in traditional Japanese music, she is also a specialist of the shinobue, a Japanese bamboo flute she integrates into contemporary creations.

She has performed at major festivals and venues across Europe and Japan, including Flagey, the Musical Instruments Museum (MIM), Ars Musica, and the Brussels City Hall, as well as Tokyo Opera City Hall and Minato Mirai Hall. As a chamber musician, she has collaborated with internationally renowned artists and ensembles.

Deeply committed to contemporary music, Nozomi Kanda actively promotes new repertoire for flute and shinobue, commissioning and premiering works by composers such as Nicolas Bacri, David Loeb, and Jan Freidlin. Her artistic work has been praised by the international press, and she was invited as a commentator on Musiq’3 during the Ars Musica Festival in Brussels.

An active pedagogue, she regularly teaches masterclasses and workshops in Belgium, France, Norway, and Japan. She is launching the first shinobue class in France at the Conservatoire du Kremlin-Bicêtre in Paris and is also a co-organizer of the Festival Mozart in Waterloo and Nagakute (Japan), as well as the Voyage Musical concert series in Brussels.

Maiko Inoue – Piano

Passionate about chamber music, Maiko INOUE focuses on ensemble playing and founded the Trio Mistral in 2002. She regularly performs at festivals and concerts across Europe and Japan with ensembles like the Trio Mistral and the Cosmopolitan Duo.
She has recorded three albums: one with the Trio Mistral (Schumann, Shostakovich, Rachmaninoff), one with soprano Anne Cambier (American Songs), and another with Aldo Baerten and others (Bruch, Huybrechts).
A graduate of the Osaka College of Music, Maiko furthered her studies in Strasbourg, Karlsruhe, and Brussels under renowned teachers. She earned a Master’s degree in piano and chamber music with the highest distinction and obtained the Aggregation for Secondary Education in Brussels.
As the Artistic Director of the Festival International de Musique à Jodoigne , Maiko continues to inspire audiences with the clarity and emotional depth of her performances.

Pianist Maiko Inoue and flutist Nozomi Kanda collaborate on “Voyage Musical,” a unique Classical Music Series blending classical and traditional world music. The project features 3 concerts per year, including classical performances inspired by specific countries, programs integrating ethnic instruments, and traditional music from around the globe.

With expertise in classical and Japanese traditional music, we aim to create a series that bridges cultures, allowing audiences to experience familiar sounds alongside the beauty of diverse traditions.
